Lions Gate Hospital Coastal Simulation Program STRUC Course
The Coastal Simulation Program is a partnership between the Lion’s Gate Hospital/Coastal Community of Care, Clinical Education VCH and UBC Faculty of Medicine; we are located in the HOpe Centre next to Lion’s Gate Hospital. The centre combines two areas on the 2nd floor of the HOpe Centre; the LGH Academic Hub, and UBC Medical Education Space. Together they feature a library, two purpose built simulation rooms with control rooms, seven clinical skills rooms, three classrooms of various size, and 5 VC/meeting rooms of various size.
Our goal is to be a leading regional simulation program with staffing expertise and a wide range of innovative equipment to support patient care improvements across all professional groups and within patient care teams.
Our services:
We offer training for simulation facilitators along with long-term support with scenario development and feedback on debriefing skills. We also offer technical support for all events using our high tech manikins. As a program, we engage in many levels of evaluation in order to improve our services and demonstrate the effects of simulation based education.

- ACLS – Advanced Cardiac Life Support
- PALS – Pediatric Advanced Life Support
- NRP – Neonatal Resuscitation Program
- STRUC – Simulation Trauma Resuscitation Update Course
- RTTDC – Rural Trauma Team Development Course
- Mock code blues all over the hospital
- In-situ – Simulations on units: Pediatrics, Emergency and ICU
- FP Resident Sim Program
- Regional Orientation simulation-based content
- Outreach: Squamish, Pemberton, Whistler, Sechelt, Powell River, Bella Bella, Bella Coola
- Telesim outreach sims: Powell River, Bella Bella, Bella Coola
