Safe Patient Handover
Module 3: SBAR for Urgent Patient Communication

Introduction

SBAR was originally created for the military for use in situations requiring urgent awareness debriefing. However, it is now routinely applied in health care, and provides clinicians with some expectations of, and structure to, handovers and communication. SBAR stands for: Situation, Background, Assessment, and Recommendations.
